Chris Scarafile, a Brooklyn-based cinematographer and camera operator, has worked in film and television since the early 1990s. He’s operated camera on acclaimed series like Penguin, The Morning Show, Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, and The Blacklist.
His career began with dolly work on major studio productions like Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull and Boardwalk Empire. He shot the Sundance-winning short Gowanus, Brooklyn, and has won numerous cinematography awards for his scripted work.
Chris works both on Union Crew TV shows and as solo filmmaker in remote locations like Alaska, the Amazon, New Zealand’s volcanic rims, and the Tunisian desert. His documentary projects focus on exposing injustices and giving voice to the powerless, themes that resonate with him.
When not filming, Chris is an avid cyclist, crossword constructor, and community member.
